We are seeking volunteer editors for two different initiatives:

1) Editorial services to raise funds for the Singapore Red Cross

(Jun 2025 - Jun 2026; creative and academic writing)

2) Editorial services to assess the entries for Voyage: A Literary Journal

(Jan - Apr 2026; creative writing, art and photography)

The former requires you to provide detailed, quality feedback to the client. The latter does not require you to write up detailed feedback, but will require you to conduct a close reading of each piece, and provide brief feedback on its suitability for inclusion within the journal.

Both require you to submit the documents listed below.

Application Process

If you would like to join as a volunteer editor, please email rainbowfictioneers@gmail.com with the following documents:

1) An abbreviated CV of not more than one page.

2) A short cover letter stating your reasons for applying. Please indicate if you are applying to be an editor for our fundraising initiative, our literary journal, or both.

3) A personal writing sample of up to thirty pages. This can include creative and/or academic writing, depending on the medium(s) you would like to work with.

4) Two to three examples of editorial feedback that you have previously provided to others, and/or critical reviews that you have previously written (for example, book reviews). For the former, please include the original piece(s) to which your feedback was written in response.

Volunteers will receive one-on-one training to support and guide them in their role. The commitment period is flexible and can be tailored to the volunteer's schedule.

Shortlisted candidates will undergo an online interview, and there will be an onboarding session for successful applicants. This is a remote position, and those not based in Singapore are welcome to apply.
